      <description>The Great Migration of our Ancestors to Cape Cod:

the Congregation of Rev. John Lothrop and the Founders of Barnstable

presented by Dan McConnell


Learn about the persecution suffered by Rev John Lothrop and his congregation before the religious courts in London and their flight to Cape Cod.&amp;nbsp; Reverend John and his congregation arrived in Barnstable in 1639.&amp;nbsp; His home and meetinghouse built in 1644 still stands today as part of the building which is now Sturgis Library. 


Dan is President of the Cape Cod Genealogical Society and the historian for the Lothropp Family Foundation.&amp;nbsp; He has done extensive research on the English Reformation and early religious emigrants with special focus on the Rev John Lothrop in London and Barnstable.</description>

and Walter Gadkowski of Centerville and pharmacists Peter and Judy Scarafile of Barnstable Village&#8212;went to Haiti in April to volunteer in a tented field hospital with no running water.

Join them as they recount their week of working with Project Medishare

in what was considered the top hospital in Haiti.</description>

      <description>PHOTOJOURNALIST TO REVEAL THE WORLD BENEATH THE CAPE&#8217;S WATERLINE


Award&#45;winning photojournalist Ethan Daniels will speak about (and show photos from) his newly released stunning book&#45;length collection of underwater photography, Under Cape Cod Waters (Union Park Press, June 2010).&amp;nbsp;  


Cosponsored by the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod and the Cape Dive Club, the event promises to draw an eclectic group of nature lovers, artists, and hardy divers interested in taking the plunge into Cape Cod&#8217;s brisk waters. A reception and book signing will follow the author&#8217;s remarks.

Throughout his collection Daniels incorporates images from the variety of underwater habitats, including the salt marsh, bay, ocean, and freshwater ponds.</description>
