Founded in 1949, The Friends of Sturgis Library is an auxiliary organization that supports and enhances library services by providing supplemental funding for library materials, resources, equipment, and programs. Friends raise funds by the sale of second-hand books and a variety of gifts in the Friends Book Store and Gift Shop, as well as through membership dues.
Friends also sponsor a series of programs and events each year, including lectures, author talks, musical programs, an annual Friends luncheon, a Book-Bake-&-Plant Sale, and much more. Friends programs are open to the public, and are usually offered free of charge.
Over the past five years the Friends have donated between $13,000 to $15,000 annually in cash, services, or purchases for the library. They have funded the purchase of books and nonprint materials and materials for the historical archives; purchased furniture & equipment; donated funds for the rebinding and preservation of rare books; provided enhancements to the Children's Room; and contributed to building improvements. The Friends have also funded the purchase of museum passes for loan to library patrons.

Friends of the Sturgis Library Book Sale and Gift Shop
Book Sale and Gift Shop Hours: Tuesday & Thursday from 1:30 - 4:00 and Saturday from 10:00 - 3:00. The store offers used and new books, prints, postcards, bookmarks, cup plates, mugs, and more! There's something new every week. Proceeds from these sales help the Library fund special programs and services.
Annual Dues
Annual dues are only $15.00 per individual or family. Please fill out the membership form printed below, make your check payable to "Friends of Sturgis Library" and mail the form to Sturgis Library, P.O. Box 606 Barnstable, MA 02630. You may also leave your membership form and $15.00 at the circulation desk on your next visit to the library.
