Apply for a Library Card

To register for a Sturgis Library CLAMS card, print this form, fill it out, and bring it to the library with a piece of valid identification showing your current address. To register by mail, fax, or email, follow the instructions on the form.

Research and Reference Services

Reference Services: Library staff can provide basic reference assistance to students and general researchers of all ages.

Special Collections Research Services: The library provides research and reference services for those requiring specialized research assistance. We must limit research assistance to approximately 30 minutes per inquiry, due to limited staff availability. We accept phone inquiries but prefer, if possible, that you send your questions via email to our Adult Services Librarian at .

The following charges apply for scanning and photocopying of documents and images, which may be paid by credit card or by check or money order:

  • Scanning and mailing/emailing of documents (8 1/2 x 11 size maximum): $5.00 for 1 or 2 scans; $10 for 3 or 4 scans
  • Photocopying and mailing/emailing of documents (8 1/2 x 11 size maximum) : $5.00 for up to 10 copies; $10 for 11- 20 copies
  • To copy or scan materials over 8 1/2 x 11 size, we work with a local printing company. There is a minimum charge of $25 for this service, which does not include the cost of scanning and printing. Scanning and printing rates will depend on the size of the item, the number of copies and the needs of the researcher.

Internet Access and Computing & Resources

We have 4 public workstations (connected to printers), 3 laptops for use in and around the library (not connected to printers), and 1 laptop for use in the Hooper Room for historical research (connected to a printer). If you need to print anything, printouts are 20 cents each. Computer use is free. We also offer free wireless internet Access for those wishing to bring in their own laptop computers. Printouts at public workstations are 20 cents each.

Photocopies and Fax Services

The Library has a copy machine that makes black and white copies. They are 20 cents per page.

You can send and receive faxes at the library. The Library's fax number is 508-362-5467. To send a fax, there is a charge of $2.00 for the first page and $1.00 for additional pages. Overseas fax charges will be higher. To receive a fax, it is 20 cents per page.
