Atmosphere & Suspense: Creating Tension in Horror and Crime Fiction with Laird Barron & John Langan

Join us for an evening of horror and crime fiction with Bram Stoker/Shirley Jackson Award winning authors, Laird Barron and John Langan. The authors will discuss the craft of writing tense, atmospheric, character driven prose and will answer all of your writing/publishing related questions. A reading and book signing will follow.

Author Bios:
Laird Barron spent his early years in Alaska. He is the author of several books, including The Beautiful Thing That Awaits Us All, Swift to Chase, and Blood Standard. His work has also appeared in many magazines and anthologies. Barron currently resides in the Rondout Valley writing stories about the evil that men do.
John Langan is the author of two novels and three collections of stories. His novel, The Fisherman, received the Bram Stoker Award and the This is Horror Award. With Paul Tremblay, he co-edited the anthology, Creatures: Thirty Years of Monsters. He’s one of the founders of the Shirley Jackson Awards, for which he served as a juror during its first three years. His reviews of horror and dark fantasy have appeared in venues including Locus magazine, the LA Review of Books, and the New York Review of Science Fiction. He lives in New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley with his wife, younger son, and an office full of books. In 2020, his fourth collection of stories, Children of the Fang, will be released.
