A Perfect Frenzy
A Royal Governor, His Black Allies, and the Crisis That Spurred the American Revolution with Andrew Lawler
August 5, 2025 @ 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

Join us for a compelling evening with author Andrew Lawler, as he discusses his groundbreaking new book, A Perfect Frenzy, which uncovers the explosive events in Virginia that reshaped the course of the American Revolution, and the nation’s future.
While Lexington, Concord, and Bunker Hill dominate popular memory, Virginia in 1775 was a political powder keg. The colony’s royal governor, Lord Dunmore, threatened to free and arm enslaved people to suppress the patriot uprising igniting a fierce backlash from Virginia’s elite and setting off a chain of events that culminated in the burning of Norfolk and calls for full independence from Britain.
Don’t miss this thought-provoking talk on how race, rebellion, and revolution collided in the South, and how those overlooked moments helped shape the Declaration of Independence and reverberated through American history.
