  • Notes : The attorney for the sellers was A. Green Crabtree, yeoman attorney of Sullivan, Maine, Hancock County. It is not specified where the sellers live, just that the property they were selling came from their Uncle Jonathan Hopkins of Orleans. The deed mentions the rights of dower of his widow, but the writing is unclear. It is usual in these cases that the widow relinquishes her rights of dower. This needs to be clarified. The property was recorded twice in Barnstable, and once in Orleans. First in Barnstable by Job C. Davis, Register on 1/6/24; again recorded in the Book for Orleans on 11/5/28, by Register John Kenrick.
