Larry Tye is a New York Times bestselling author whose latest book, The Jazzmen, a joint biography of Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and Count Basie — looks at how these three maestros wrote the soundtrack for the civil rights revolution.
Mick Carlon is bringing the history of jazz to young people. This professor from Centerville, Massachusetts, has written three novels in which idols as Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Lester Young, Ella Fitzgerald and many more, speak to us all.
